Vervig Diving Talk at https://talk.vervig.com is a public community forum run by Vervig.

Information the forum uses. Discourse stores your email address, username, profile, posts, uploads, preferences, account activity and moderation records. Server and security logs may include IP addresses and browser information. We use this information to operate the forum, authenticate accounts, deliver requested messages, prevent abuse and handle moderation.

Public and restricted information. Public posts, profiles and uploads can be read by visitors, copied and indexed by search engines. Keep personal, confidential and sensitive information out of public posts. Email addresses and restricted discussions are accessible only to the people and administrators allowed by the forum’s permissions. Forum administrators can access account and moderation records when administering the service.

Hosting, email and backups. The forum runs on a Netcup server in Germany. Scaleway in France provides outgoing forum email and private encrypted backups. Backup encryption is applied before transfer; its decryption key is held separately from the forum server. Daily backup files expire after 30 days, and versioned recovery copies have a further 30-day expiration period. Provider cleanup runs asynchronously. We retain active forum data while it is needed to provide the service and handle moderation or security issues.

Cookies and browser storage. Essential cookies support login, preferences and security; optional Analytics has a separate choice described below. You can clear these through your browser; clearing login cookies signs you out. Embedded content and links in posts may connect to other websites under those websites’ policies.

Optional website analytics. With your explicit permission, we use Google Analytics (Google) to measure visits to the public forum homepage, categories, latest and top indexes while you are signed out. Analytics is off until you select “Allow analytics”; declining does not affect your use of the forum. We send a generic “Vervig Diving Talk” page title and the index address without queries or fragments. Google also receives ordinary browser and device information and uses Analytics cookies to distinguish visits. Advertising features are disabled.

Topics, search, profiles, private messages and signed-in activity are excluded. We do not send usernames, post contents, search terms or account identifiers. The Analytics cookies apply only to talk.vervig.com. Your separate Analytics preference is stored in this website’s browser storage for up to 180 days; the previous essential-cookie notice acknowledgement does not grant Analytics permission. Open “Analytics preferences” and select “Decline” to withdraw permission and remove this forum’s Analytics cookies. See Google’s privacy information for how Google processes data.

Your choices. You can adjust your profile and email notifications in your account preferences. Contact talk@vervig.com about access, correction, account deletion or other privacy requests. Removing an account may require anonymising public contributions to preserve discussions; copies already made by others and backup copies may persist for their retention period.
